BBC StoryWorks shine the spotlight on Spice Alley.

As those who have visited Spice Alley well know, the hawker-food alleyway operates as a cashless business. We do this to improve the speed of service, as well as for food hygiene reasons.

Patrons of Spice Alley either tap and go with a credit/debit card or by using a smartphone/smartwatch app. Alternatively, visitors can transfer cash onto a pre-loaded card at the cashier booth.
